Fishing huts alongside the pond.

The fish pond.

Looking up.

From where I stand.

All set to catch some fish!
This weekend, I experienced how fishing can be so calming and exciting at the same time! My teammates and I went to Papa Kits Marina and Fishing Lagoon at Liloan, Cebu as part of our Team Building activity.
I am not new to fishing as it’s my father’s favorite pastime. When I was younger and had lots of spare time (I claim to be busy nowadays, but still young of course!) my father would take us with him to different fish ponds. We would use long slender bamboo poles as fishing rods and earthworms as bait. Yes, you read it right, we use fresh, live earthworms to lure the fish! I don’t see myself attaching a worm on a fishing hook now that I am of age but as I recall, it wasn’t a challenge before. I guess bravery diminishes with age!
My father’s really passionate about fishing. We have this joke at home that if we’re asked what our father’s occupation is, we’d answer “a fisherman”! He’s week is not complete without catching a fish and I don’t remember him going home empty handed. So I was pretty much confident I’ll have some of his good luck. Then I found out fishing takes a lot of patience, focus and determination as much as luck!
When I go home, I’ll definitely go along with my father on a fishing expedition!
