Rain, Rain, Go Away

This week in Cebu City, the weather’s been consistently cloudy sometimes with rainshowers and gusty winds. It’s during days like these that I crave for my favorite mushroom soup from Shakey’s. :P

Being surrounded by many neighboring islands like Leyte, Bohol, Negros & Masbate, rainfall isn’t much to be expected in Cebu. When it does rain, it kinda tells you that other parts of the Philippines, particularly those exposed to the open seas, are experiencing worse weather conditions. This makes me worry since I have a planned trip to Davao City this weekend.

I hope the weather gets better so I can finally have my first summer getaway this year! :)

Zip Line Experience

800-meter zipline. It took just a few minutes to go from one end to the other but it was the most exhilirating and one of the most unforgetable experience of my life!

I’m one of those acrophobians — no, I can’t live both on land and in water — I have fear of heights! Just climbing up the stairs to the zipline ramp was a struggle for me. A few screams eased out my nervousness and the great view made my mind wander.

When I got to the top, the personnel gave instructions and I listened attentively, frequently responding with assuring nods. Of course I got everything under control, I thought. The next thing I remember I was securely fastened into the line and their I was rushing towards the other side. It happened so fast I thought I was dreaming! Kudos to them for taking me by surprise! I didn’t have the time to recognize my fears!

After a few minutes, it was all over. Every emotion and realization suddenly sinked in. My body was shaking that I could barely walk! The experience was so out of the ordinary that I said to myself, I would definitely do this again!

Today, February has an Extra Day!

30 days has September,
April, June and November
All the rest have 31
Except February which alone has 28
Leap year comes 1 year in 4
And adds to February one day more!

Remember this? Back in grade school, we had to memorize and recite this poem. Was it during Grade 2? I can’t really remember. Upon writing this post, I had to search for a copy of the poem not knowing that several versions exist! As I couldn’t choose which one to use, I just wrote what I can remember. Did I get it correctly? :D

Gone Fishing on a Weekend

All set to catch some fish!

This weekend, I experienced how fishing can be so calming and exciting at the same time! My teammates and I went to Papa Kits Marina and Fishing Lagoon at Liloan, Cebu as part of our Team Building activity.

I am not new to fishing as it’s my father’s favorite pastime. When I was younger and had lots of spare time (I claim to be busy nowadays, but still young of course!) my father would take us with him to different fish ponds. We would use long slender bamboo poles as fishing rods and earthworms as bait. Yes, you read it right, we use fresh, live earthworms to lure the fish! I don’t see myself attaching a worm on a fishing hook now that I am of age but as I recall, it wasn’t a challenge before. I guess bravery diminishes with age! :P

My father’s really passionate about fishing. We have this joke at home that if we’re asked what our father’s occupation is, we’d answer “a fisherman”! He’s week is not complete without catching a fish and I don’t remember him going home empty handed. So I was pretty much confident I’ll have some of his good luck. Then I found out fishing takes a lot of patience, focus and determination as much as luck!

When I go home, I’ll definitely go along with my father on a fishing expedition! :D

Instagram Addiction: Tap-tap Swipe!

Tap-tap, swipe. Tap-tap, swipe. Tap-tap, swipe.
Repeat until all items are loaded!
Tap-tap, swipe. Tap-tap, swipe. Tap-tap, swipe.

This is my latest addiction. The first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do before I go to sleep. I’m talking about Instagram. It’s a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Snap a photo with your iPhone, choose a filter to transform the look and feel, send to Facebook, Twitter or Flickr – it’s all as easy as pie. It’s photo sharing, reinvented.

And by the way, its free! :)
